ST. GEORGE Rapid Cycling, a locally owned and operated bicycle shop, recently opened a second location at 446 S. Mall Drive in St. George. To celebrate their expansion, the Rapid Cycling Service Center will host a local art open house on Friday from 6-8 p.m.

In addition to being a full-service repair shop, the Rapid Cycling Service Center is stocked with cycling accessories, tubes, bikes and nutrition products.

Rapid Cycling opened the doors on a small shop located on Sunset Boulevard almost three years ago. Since that time, the shop has been moved to a bigger location on Bluff Street, and they have opened the service center in the new location. Holly O’Keefe, one of the Rapid Cycling owners said:

When we opened Rapid Cycling almost three years ago, the plan was always to open a second location at some point. It happened sooner than we anticipated, but with the completion of the Mall Drive bridge and the growth in Little Valley and Washington Fields, we couldn’t pass on the opportunity to take the Rapid Cycling experience to that side of town.

In addition to the growth in the area, another advantage of the new location is its proximity to active cycling neighborhoods, O’Keefe said.

“A lot of our current customers have been driving to us on Bluff Street,” she said, “and now their needs can be met just five minutes from their home.”

To celebrate their new location, the Rapid Cycling Service Center will be hosting an art open house featuring work from Southern Utah artists Bill Ennis, Jessie Hall, Adrian Shoell, Brenden Morris and Jeremy Garcia.

The idea to combine art and bikes stemmed from a coloring contest Rapid Cycling held in May for National Bike Month. O’Keefe said they thought it would be fun to display the winners’ art work during their open house, and the idea to invite local artists to participate grew from there.

“This is a chance for the cycling community and the art community to join forces for a night. The beauty of it is, there is a lot of overlap,” O’Keefe said. “The open house is an opportunity for people to come, get a glimpse of the local art scene in a new environment and enjoy some food and get to meet new people.”
