ST. GEORGE — Lunch hour was rudely interrupted for three drivers as a chain reaction crash damaged their trucks Tuesday on N. Bluff Street near W. 700 North.

At approximately 12:15 p.m., a blue Ford Ranger traveling south in the right lane on Bluff stopped for a vehicle making a turn into the parking lot of Alfredos restaurant, St. George Police Lt. Johnny Heppler said.

“A dark-colored full size pickup stopped behind it,” Heppler said. However, a white flatbed full-sized pickup truck towing a trailer was unable to stop in time.

“(It) locked its brakes up and skidded between 75 to 100 feet, not stopping in time,” Heppler said.

The truck towing the trailer crashed into the dark-colored pickup, which then was pushed into the Ford Ranger, Heppler said.

The occupants of the two front vehicles were complaining of neck and back pain, Heppler said, adding that they were checked out by Gold Cross ambulance personnel but not transported.

“The driver of the vehicle towing the trailer will be issued a citation for following too closely,” Heppler said.

Units from St. George Police and Fire departments and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the crash scene.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
