ST. GEORGE – Brittany Moore of Desert Hills and Serena Lindsey of Snow Canyon are the co-Most Valuable Players for Region 9 girls soccer. The two led their respective teams to a share of the league championship.

Both are seniors. Lindsey was a midfielder for the Warriors while Moore was a goalkeeper for the Thunder.

Of Lindsey, Snow Canyon coach Kenny Kunde said, “Serena is a four-year letter-winner who is the engine of our team. Her energy and work rate are contagious and when she is on, she makes everyone around her better. She is the quintessential MVP.”

Assistant coach Brian Brough added, “Serena has a fantastic work ethic and motor. She is relentless.”

And Paul Kreyling, another assistant coach said, “Serena is a player that leads by example and is consistently tenacious in both practice and games. She never quits until the final whistle sounds.”

“In several games, Brittany had a stop or two that was the difference between winning and losing,” said Desert Hills coach Benji Nelson. “She came up big in every single game we had.”

“There were three or four games where she had a one-on-one situation that was the key and she came up with an amazing save, Nelson said. “As a team captain, no matter the situation she built up the others to believe we could do it. She was just a great student-athlete.

While Lindsey’s main responsibility was not scoring, she did have two goals and an assist. Moore had nine shutouts in goal.

The co-champions have 11 of the 18 representatives on the all-league first team. Joining Moore are teammates Brecken Dalley, Brooklyn Lott, Drew Morby, Kodee Bracken and Morgan Myers. Lindsey’s all-region teammates include Grace Call, Brielle Hoskins, Heidi Smith and Ashley Brindley.

Representing Cedar are Julia Hunt, Tasha Kamachi and Hannah Sobel while Elizabeth Durrant and Ashlyn Smith represent Dixie along with Abby Hall and Shanel Stevens of Hurricane and McKenna Plumb of Pine View.

On the second team are Kaitlyn Rowley and Lindsey Robinson of Cedar; Brenna Owen, Makayla Lewis and Kylee Westoff of Desert Hills; Kennedy Warnick of Dixie; Kylee Stevens and Jaydon Langford of Hurricane; Eliza Sterling of Pine View and Megan Weston, Jacie Mooring, Samantha Lindsey and Kenzee Brough of Snow Canyon.
