Film Fanatics: ‘Hacksaw Ridge’ and ‘Doctor Strange’ touch on spiritual side

REVIEW  For the first time since 2006’s excellent “Apocalypto,” Mel Gibson jumps back into the director’s chair with “Hacksaw Ridge” – the true story of a Christian Army medic (Andrew Garfield) who would save several lives during World War II without firing a weapon.

Does this old fashioned epic put you directly on the front line, or is “Hacksaw Ridge” a carbon copy of better war films?

Marvel Studios returns with “Doctor Strange” – the magical tale of an egotistical surgeon (Benedict Cumberbatch) who discovers the power of spiritual healing after a horrific accident renders his hands useless.

With this fantastical adventure, does Marvel take us on a new ride, or is “Doctor Strange” simply more of the same?

Bruce Bennett and Adam Mast dish on these films and much more on the latest episode of “Film Fanatics.”
