ST. GEORGE – For the second time in the past four years, Desert Hills honored its football team after the Thunder gridders captured the 3AA state championship.

Fans, family members, coaches and well-wishers gathered at the school Monday evening to honor the team, which scored on the final play of the game to defeat Pine View 28-27 in the ultimate game at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

Desert Hills rallied from a 13-point fourth-quarter deficit to gain the victory, with senior quarterback Quinn Kiser connecting with junior wide receiver Gavin Young on a 1-yard pass with no time left on the game clock. Sophomore Logan Callister made the extra point to complete the rally.

Head coach Carl Franke spoke at the gathering Monday night and individual players were honored. St. George News photographer Robert Hoppie was there to capture this photo gallery:

  • Note – Franke and several of his players will be on St. George News’ 3AA Highlight Show Tuesday evening. Check back here at stgnews.com for that show.
