OPINION — Twenty election lessons from 2016:
- Money can’t buy an election (Hillary outspent Trump by tons).
- The liberal media lost some credibility.
- Political correctness is dying.
- Labeling (deplorables) is not enough.
- Buying Black votes with empty promises is over.
- TV ads are over-valued.
- The electorate is perceptive.
- The “fringe” is not a solid base.
- An unlikeable outsider with no political experience can win.
- Entertainers have no political clout.
- Pollsters are overpaid.
- Voting is the ultimate protest.
- Promises to leave the country are empty and manipulative.
- An opposition party victory is a referendum on failed policy.
- Thoughtful voters overlook character flaws.
- Don’t ignore the productive worker for he funds the government.
- Debates are overrated.
- Choice of a vice presidential running mate matters.
- A career in politics without accomplishment is a liability.
- Smear campaigns make policy issues of paramount concern.
Final thought: I’ll bet, despite the rhetoric, the woman from Arkansas is probably more conservative in social issues than the man from New York City. Trump is not Ted Cruz and Hillary is not Bernie Sanders. Just saying!

he just makes a hurried list of statements without bothering to even write in detail why he supports the statements, many of which are plainly nonsense. “Entertainers have no political clout.” last i checked your president elect is a successful TV entertainer. What a lazy piece of garbage writing, or is this satire that i’m not picking up on?
I don’t think you can pickup the milk????
“the woman from Arkansas” Hillary Clinton is from Illinois, not Arkansas.
Exactly right. Hillary was from suburban Chicago and went to a snobbish women’s college in Massachusetts; she detests Arkansas.
I think everything was very well said, and the average normal person knows what he meant. It also makes me laugh.
Well there is a reason why this was published in the St George news and not the NY Times or the LA newspapers
Apparently Arkansas didn’t like Hillary. She moved to Arkansas when she failed the bar exam in Washington DC and passed the easier exam in Arkansas where she lived for nearly two decades.
Arkansas voters gave her a big thumbs down in her bid for president.
