Letter to the Editor: We must resist the neo-Nazi terrorists

OPINION — America tolerated neo-Nazi terrorists in Charlottesville. You can’t describe them as anything else. They displayed swastikas. They said “Jews will not replace us.” They chanted “blood and soil.” Some used Heil Hitler salutes. And like Islamic terrorists in Europe, they drove a car into a crowd with the intent to kill – and were successful.

Many of us want to resist neo-Nazis, but resisting is so taxing. Going to rallies takes time and energy. Donating to charities costs money. Calling your congressman takes effort.

But this is that cost of resisting neo-Nazis: We each have to do what we can. If you can physically show up at a rally or march, do it. If you can donate, do it. Even if all you can do is share anti-hate messages on social media, do it.

It’s hard. I know. But this is how we resist neo-Nazis.

Our grandparents and great-grandparents fought a war against the Nazis. More than 60 million people died. And at the end of that war, our forefathers said “never again.” Remember that oath. It’s ours to carry.

I’d ask this TRACIE PARRY when she last encountered a group of “neo-nazis”. If she took the time to fly all the way back east to one of those parades to “battle neo-nazis” then I’d say I respect the effort, but assuming she did not, this just sounds like whining for the sake of whining. I’ve never encountered any “neo-nazi” groups in UT, and I’m a “utah native”.

maybe she’s a “facebook warrior”, “battling neo-nazis one facebook post at a time”, saving us all from the evil! imagine…

The only neo-Nazis that most people have ever seen are those in the 1980 movie “The Blues Brothers”. LOL As portrayed in that movie, neo-Nazis are predominately a very small fringe group of emasculated nutjobs.

In contrast, most people have recently seen numerous instances of violent left-wing fascists in this country, intimidating and violently attacking those who dare to not align with their worldview.

  • John August 20, 2017 at 1:50 pm

antifa, blm , kkk, white supemacists and all the others are just the same as your neo nazi terrorists, antifa is the most fascist of them all…and all must be ignored , not one of them is justified in any of this crap..

      Yep!

    • mesaman August 20, 2017 at 10:01 pm

Bravo. It had to be said this way.

    • Jim August 22, 2017 at 1:27 pm

Exactly. oppose all racists, thugs and demons.

  • statusquo August 20, 2017 at 2:20 pm

Some good points Tracie. FREEDOM IS NEVER FREE! As a nation we must never let our guard down.

I also agree with John. There are currently many “hate” groups in America. How do we discern who they are? I would say if they are screaming, yelling and beating someone they probably belong to a hate group. If they are terrifying to be around they are probably a terrorist. Terror and hate are not limited to any particular race. Actually, if you read the Bible literally, there is only one race. Interesting!

    • theone August 20, 2017 at 7:52 pm

And there you have it, the bible is the problem.

For you ignorant, naive leftists: I’d encourage you to research into what groups are actually behind the mass migration of muslims into europe and in effect responsible for all the terrorism, mass murder, and crime that the muslim invaders bring. A hint for you: the driving force is not muslims themselves. They dream of doing the same to the US. They’re already putting it into effect. Research into what mass importation of muslims is doing to canada. It will not be pretty.

Provide the proof of your claim.

Go find it yourself if you can pull your head out of the sand and clean your eyes of the dust so that you may see what id plainly in front of you.

      • desertgirl August 20, 2017 at 8:21 pm

News. You don’t see it if you’re watching MSM i.e. CNN, MSNBC, Fox, ABC etc. etc. etc. or reading rags life Media Matters, HuffyPost, NYT, WAPO. Proof is everywhere. Look and see. My guess is you are a progressive; you people find it tough to accept facts and what is in front of your face.

he’s probly too lazy. don’t think his little brain could handle the truth anyway

        • theone August 21, 2017 at 8:01 am

So what you all are saying to me, is you have no proof. I get it, it’s easier to cover yourself by attacking me instead of providing the proof.
          Typical paranoid righty.

ARE YOU A LITTLE BABY. ARE YOU NOT CAPABLE OF DOING EVEN A LITTLE RESEARCH ON YOUR OWN? YOU NEED SOMEONE TO BOTTLE FEED YOU THE INFO? I KNOW YOU LEFTISTS LOVE MUSLIM TERRORISTS ANYWAY SO WHY DOES IT MATTER? geeze you are just dumb. if you want to know look it up. there are many many sources, just not your little cnn and msnbc etc, AND NOT HARD TO FIND. idiot

        • theone August 21, 2017 at 2:24 pm

First off no one likes terrorists of any kind not just Muslim ones. Cap locks make you look very juvenile, so calling me a baby when throwing a temper tantrum of your own is delusional.
I did go research and found nothing but conspiracy garble. I would like to see your source, or do you just regurgitate Alex Jones, Micheal Savage, and Mark Lavine?

  • Utahguns August 20, 2017 at 8:28 pm

    In Utahgunsville…nazi-terrorists are shot.

Wow, all those neo-Nazis running around all over the country. I’ve lived in four states and don’t see Nazis and KKK all over the place. But, have seen plenty of progressive agitators and violent leftist Democrats in Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, L.A., and Vegas.

Healthy recommendation for all civilized folk: do what you can to rid communities and politics of anyone committing or promoting violence, destruction of property, and blocking paths of egress where people are trying to get places; promoting hatred of the United States. You don’t have the right to throw your body onto the middle of a street or public sidewalk. You don’t have the right to terrorize people and their families at their homes because you don’t agree with them or like them. You don’t have the right to prevent others from practicing their right to legally protest and practice free speech ( the authorities should be arresting these thugs and we need to start insisting that the people we pay to protect us do just that). You don’t have the right to threaten people with your bats with nails, guns, flame-throwers, or any other weapon. You don’t have the right to beat someone up because you don’t like who they voted for or politically support. Only creepy dangerous people cover their faces and go out to agitate
the public; indicative of someone looking for trouble and you will find it. I see and have for years many of the above people in person and now daily on the news.

The selective outrage against only a few thousand neo-Nazi and white supremeist across the country but not against tens of thousands violent and aggressive leftists, Islamist terrorists, communist agitators (yes, communist Virginia) and unbalanced college students and professors is short-sighted at best and ignorant and ugly more likely.

    • comments August 20, 2017 at 10:46 pm

exactly, these “neo-nazis” and “white supremists” are a tiny fringe group of people posing no real threat–they’re just obnoxious if anything. All I hear about anymore is muslims terrorizing and killing innocent people and children and then violent leftist extremists out terrorizing people that try to speak up and leftists sticking up for Islamists. More violence to come I’m afraid, and probably a lot worse than what we’ve seen so far. And why is it ok for these #BLM terrorists to march around screaming about how they want to kill all white people? May be a war coming.

      Bravo

  • vintagehippie August 20, 2017 at 11:43 pm

I fully agree that the “Neo-Nazi’s” and KKK people seem to be vastly outnumbered by the violent leftist progressives, anti-fas, anti-free speech people and liberals in general who are disappointed with how the election went. Those are the groups that are “demonstrating” by showing up without assembly permits with their faces covered wearing helmets and carrying baseball bats, etc. They seem to believe that the best way to make their vision of the future of this country apparent to the majority of Americans is by tearing things up, burning buildings, assaulting people, assassinating cops, etc.). I sincerely hope that the authorities decide that enough is enough and give some of them prison records for their efforts to make this country “better”. If not, we may start seeing some ordinary citizens start to defend themselves and their property.

I suspect that these activists are part of the “network” of 30,000 plus people who Obama (the guy who doubled the amount of this nation’s debt that had taken all the previous 43 Presidents 232 years to accumulate) referred to as being with him. Obama and his supporter are ready to resume trying to continue this country’s slide in socialism and ruin as we’ve seen in so many other countries such as Venezuela, Greece, Spain, Portugal, etc. These people believe that nothing shows one’s solid character so well as does taking what some other person has worked for instead of earning it yourself.

The ironic part is that the expenses for these demonstrators to attend these destruction fests are most likely provided by people such as George Soros (who helped Nazi’s round up Jews for extermination) and other ultra rich liberals such as the Hollywood types. If such people really wanted to improve this country they should be using their money and reputations to fund food, housing and medical care for those less fortunate themselves instead of trying to destroy the United States.

Sooner or later another liberal will be President, and I can only hope that Conservatives will show him the same respect and support that liberals have shown President Trump.

The LTE by Tracie is a great example of the ignorance in our country. She has no idea about the real enemy and believes violence is justified when needed to stop an opposing view. She has no understanding of the 1st Amendment and gets her “intelligence” from the MSM. This is all revealed in her LTE. She should open her mind, open her eyes and do some significant research before sharing such pointless, unsubstantiated and partisan babble.

  • Rudy August 21, 2017 at 7:13 am

I am definitely not in favor of neo-Nazis or White Supremecists. But they are not the only problem, these masked paid protestors that do not want others to have free speech. That is the problem The President spoke of. There is plenty of blame to go around, the violence from the BLM, and Unicorn protestors is horrible and tears at the fabric of the constitution. We have to stop Supremacists, but we likewise need to stop the masked thugs also cause murder and violence across the nation, as well as Charlottesville.

  • Kilroywashere August 21, 2017 at 9:10 am

Take 1000 + people, bus them to a legal protest, inform the opposition group, get a couple of fights going, and next thing you know, youre a headline on TV for 72 hours. You can do this with Shark Attacks too. The least of my worries on this planet are fringe white extremist groups. I can honestly say in my 1/2 century of travels, the only neo nazi racists I have encountered were skinheads in the late 70s and early 80s. This group is miniscule, and they have just gotten a free global publicity campaign, beyond their expectations. I counter this author, by saying the best strategy is not to elevate this group. Let them march and chant etc, and give them NO ATTENTION. Let their words fly into the wind. If at some point in the future there is a resurgence or change in momentum in regards to facist extremists groups, then intervene, else you are empowering them.

When will the day come that we can get rid of a polygamist cult?
