ST. GEORGE — Two people were injured in a crash that police say was caused by a 19-year-old pizza delivery woman who failed to look while turning left in St. George Tuesday.

The woman delivering pizza in a passenger car was attempting to turn left from N. 3050 E. near the intersection of Deseret Drive S. when she failed to watch for oncoming traffic, St. George Police Sgt. Choli Ence said.

Her car slammed into the passenger side of a Buick LaCrosse traveling on N. 3050 E. The LaCrosse careened off the road, jumped a curb and came to a rest against a tree.

The two occupants of the LaCrosse were seriously injured and taken to the hospital in separate Gold Cross ambulances, Ence said. They were responsive when emergency responders arrived at the scene, Ence said. The driver of the LaCrosse was 76 years old.

The driver who was delivering pizza was uninjured in the crash. She was cited for “improper lookout,” Ence said.

Both vehicles were damaged and towed from the scene. St. George Fire Department also responded to the scene.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement and may not contain the full scope of findings.
