Our wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother, Ross Mendenhall, age 67, stepped off his wheel of life to ascend to be with his Lord on May 20, 2018. After a five-year struggle with cancer, he is finally without pain but never gave up hope until the very end. Darlene, his companion and best friend, was at his side.
Ross was born in Eugene, Oregon, on Aug. 14, 1950, to Howard H. and Delores Patricia (Pat) Krewson Mendenhall. He grew up in Las Vegas, graduating from Rancho High School in 1968. He served in the Air Force from 1969-1973 as a jet mechanic and crew chief.
On April 14, 1972, he married Rhonda (Roni) Richey at Knotts Berry Farm, and they spent their honeymoon at Disneyland. They parted after 27 years but remained friends. Ross was an executive for Southland Corporation (7-11) from 1974–1980 when he became self-employed until retiring in 2015.
He loved the outdoors, the mountains, traveling and camping. He spent time on what he called “the ranch” at his property near Beryl, Utah. Garage sales and “picking” were his passion, and he made many friends along the way.
He is survived by his son, Jonathan Ross Mendenhall, St. George; his daughter, MaryAnne Nichole Ashton, son-in law, Cory Ashton, and granddaughter, Haleigh Marie Ashton, all of West Jordan, Utah; his brother, Tim Mendenhall, Las Vegas; his sister, Candy Cash (Bob), in California; stepbrother Greg (Julie); stepsister Joanie (Alan); and stepbrother Chris.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; oldest brother, Jerry; and youngest sister, Penny. Ross loved his family deeply.

- Ross requested a Celebration of Life as a party. On Friday, June 1, at 1 p.m. please join us at Highland Park, pavilion #1, located in Coral Canyon, 1250 Highland Parkway, Washington, Utah for sub sandwiches. And to quote Ross, “There will be cake.” Please text 435-669-8017 to RSVP.
