ST. GEORGE — The driver of a Ford Explorer followed all traffic laws when she made a complete stop at a stop sign, but that changed when she tried to enter Valley View Drive Friday afternoon in St. George, police said.
After failing to yield while turning left from Meadow View Lane, the woman driving the Explorer slammed into the side of a southbound Toyota Highlander at about 3:45 p.m., St. George Police officer Dave McDaniel said. The four occupants of the Highlander received minor injuries as a result of the crash, McDaniel said.
“The driver of the Ford will receive a citation for failure to yield after a stop because witnesses said she was stopped — she just accelerated out straight into the Toyota,” McDaniel said.
Both vehicles were so damaged, they were towed from the scene. Northbound traffic on Valley View Drive was blocked for about 30 minutes as emergency responders were able to clear the scene. The St. George Fire Department also responded to the scene.
This report is based on statements from police or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
