ST. GEORGE — The body of a woman discovered deceased in an apartment on Bluff Street has been identified by police, and the investigation is still ongoing.
The body found in an apartment on North Bluff Street was identified as 33-year-old Elizabeth Carter, of St. George, said St. George Police Captain Mike Giles. The next of kin has been notified.
Carter was reported missing earlier in the week after she wasn’t seen or heard from, according to a witness. However, Giles said the police department did not receive any missing person report. (See Ed. note)

According to a witness, police responded to the apartment after the property manager found Carter deceased inside of the unit and called 911.
“There is not a lot of information that can be released right now, as we don’t want to hinder the ongoing investigation,” Giles said.
The Medical Examiner was called in to assist in the investigation, being that it is an unattended death, he said, adding that “an autopsy is needed to determine the cause of death.”
Giles defined an unattended death is any death that occurs without a physician’s input within 30 days preceding the death.
Police also do not want to speculate on the cause of death without the autopsy results, he said, but there were “suspicious circumstances” surrounding the incident, so it is being treated as a homicide until officials prove differently, which is typical in this situation.
Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the St. George Police Department’s Investigations Unit at 435-627-4338. If there is no answer, Giles said, callers’ can leave a message on the voicemail.

Super curious about there not being a missing person report. Where did she work? Someone saw her with some guy and no one checked in with her To see if she was ok with said “new guy”? I saw on her FB someone did ask if they have seen her. Who told the apartment manager to check her apartment?
Was the apartment locked from the inside? Where her personal items still there? Anything missing? So many questions and someone needs to take responsibility for it too.
