‘We’re just pricing stuff at rock bottom’: Stephen Wade offers ‘July Red Tag Sale’ at all locations

ST. GEORGE — Stephen Wade Auto Center is excited to present its third annual “July Red Tag Sale.” The event, which takes place the entire month of July, is designed to give potential buyers the best possible deals on vehicles on all of the participating Stephen Wade Auto locations.

Stephen Wade Auto Center has a goal of selling 900 retail units during the sale, which serves a twofold purpose. The sale gives customers the best possible price on a vehicle, and it also helps the salespeople make deals they wouldn’t normally be able to make and still take home more salary, said owner and chairman Stephen Wade.

It is a win-win for both buyers and salespeople, Wade said, adding that he is really proud of his employees, many of whom have been with the organization for long enough that they are more like family.

Because they are trying to move so much inventory, July is really the best time to buy a car, said Jamie Bahlmann, Stephen Wade Auto Center marketing manager.

“We really do mark them down. We don’t mark them up and then mark them down,” Bahlmann said. “If a (customer) is looking to purchase a car, we’re ready to make deals during July.”

Wade said he understands that everyone has budget constraints when buying a car, adding that the July Red Tag Sale is the customer’s chance to get the best of the best as far as deals.

“We’re just pricing stuff at rock bottom,” he said.

Having an appropriate and pleasurable car buying experience is of the utmost importance, Wade said.

And though the car prices will be marked super low during the sale, he said that it is not going to change how the customer is treated or respected.

“My name is tied to that (treatment) and our business future is tied to that,” Wade said. “Our legacy will be how we treat people.”

The auto center also believes that buying a car should be fun, Bahlmann said.

“We want to make the car buying experience amazing from day one.”

To generate a little extra buzz and to make the car buying process more exciting, special promotions and events have been planned throughout the July Red Tag Sale, from selfie stations to a giant food truck event.

Take a selfie, win some tickets

During the month of July, Stephen Wade Auto Center will have cars located at the Megaplex Theater Stadium 8, the Megaplex Theater Pineview 10, Sand Hollow Aquatic Center, the Washington City Community Center, SunRiver and Red Cliffs Mall.

Guests are encouraged to take a selfie with the car and follow the instructions on the sign to post their photo on social media. Using the hashtag #waderedtagselfie participants will be entered for an opportunity to win a pair of movie tickets. Five pairs of movie tickets will be given away every weekday throughout the Red Tag Sale.

Find a red key, win cash

Stephen Wade Auto Center will be offering the same deals online as they are in their dealerships for potential buyers who prefer to shop from home or who want to browse the inventory before heading out for a test drive.

To make the process more enjoyable, the center is giving away $100 cash every week day throughout the sale. To win, participants can browse the Stephen Wade Auto Center inventory online and look for a red key. When the red key is spotted, guests should hover over the key to get the code and a number to call. The first caller each weekday wins the money.

“We want people to be able to (shop) from their own home,” said Jared Wade, organization operator, adding that the idea behind shopping online is total transparency. The center is allowing customers to go online and look at the cars, check out Carfax and compare prices. And if they do come into the dealership, Jared Wade said, they will see the exact same price hanging on the car.

In addition to already low prices, Stephen Wade Auto Center will be showcasing “deals of the day” during the sale that can be found online.

Deals of the day provide the center the opportunity to make additional markdowns on specific cars just to give the customer an extra incentive to buy, Jared Wade said.

Food truck event

Stephen Wade Auto Center has invited some of Southern Utah’s most popular food trucks to participate in an exciting food truck event July 21 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Guests who come that day and take a selfie with a red tag, share it on social media and show it to the food truck vendors will receive one free food item from their choice of food truck.

Food trucks will include, Pineapple Express, Corn Dog Company, Zeppe’s Italian Ice and Lonny Boy’s BBQ.

Jared Wade said that the auto center is very aware that the month of July is hot and many people are trying to travel and leave St. George. The July Red Tag Sale goes all month long, not just during the summer holidays, and allows customers to get the best price on the best vehicle.

“If you have a need for a vehicle, now is the time to buy,” Stephen Wade said.

    I really really wish the major auto makers would approve more dealerships in this area so there’d be some competition. The same ones have had a monopoly in this place for far too long, and it means higher end prices for buyers, and not just a little higher, thousands of dollars higher. If you’re buying new and want to save 1000s go to vegas or SLC where there is actual competition among dealers.

    Rock Bottom prices? Seriously? I’ve been to most of these “local” dealers. I guess they think the factory rebate is a rock bottom price?. When I tried to negotiate with their Dodge dealer, off & on for two weeks, the best they were willing to do other than the factory rebate (that everyone gets) was add/connect a dealer installed ($230) back-up camera. Yeah, I drove to Sandy and got $12,000 off sticker. Could have got 14k off the same truck if I wanted to drive to California.

      Exactly. These local dealers feel like they don’t have to negotiate bc they have no competition. They expect you to pay the sticker price.

    We register as Costco buyers and there is a set price on new cars. Also, discounts on service.

      you know i’ve heard of that, and if I buy new I will def check it out. To have a set price that you know is fair and not have a dealer try and milk you for every cent they can with “sales tactics” and games would be amazing.
