Lavar David Steed

Jan. 27, 1994 — June 23, 2018

Lavar “David” Steed passed away June 23 in Orem, Utah. He was born Jan. 27, 1994, in Hildale, Utah, to Sally Ann Johnson and Newel Gerald Steed.

David was raised in the border towns of Hildale and Colorado City, Arizona, where he attended school until the age of 16. He then moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, and was fostered by Mike and Susan Routledge. There he attended school until dropping out to pursue a career in construction.

While attending high school in Salt Lake City, he met Ana Guerrero. In 2017 they became a couple. David has always been very agile. Even from a young age he was always doing flips and tricks. He loved being outside, riding his peddle bike, riding his dirt bike, skateboarding, snowboarding and hiking.

He was in a tragic dirt bike accident on April 14, which eventually took his life. He died doing what he loved.

He is preceded in death by his father, Gerald Steed, and is survived by his mother(s) Sally Johnson Steed and Lilian Black Steed; girlfriend Ana; brothers Melvin, Hubert, Rulon, Jared, Merlin, Sterling, Clark, Myron, Charles and Allen; and sisters Viola, Sally, Deborah, Ruth, Zevenda, Rebecca, Annette, Joyce, Vera, Renae, Colleen, Elizabeth, Gloria, Susan, Geralian, Maryette and Elsie; and many in-laws, nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

Funeral services

  • The funeral and burial will be private via the wishes of the family.
  • A public viewing will be held June 29 from 6-9 p.m. at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff St. St. George, Utah.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and caregivers at Dixie Regional Medical Center, Utah Valley Specialty Hospital and Timpanogos Regional Hospital for the care and support during this hard time. The family would also like to thank the surrounding communities for their outpouring of love and well wishes in our behalf.
