Emergency dispatchers were notified of the incident at approximately 6:15 a.m.

Shortly thereafter, Utah Highway Patrol troopers and Gold Cross Ambulance personnel arrived to find the injured man lying in the road next to his motorcycle, which was tipped over on its side on the right shoulder of southbound I-15 just south of the Summit exit, near mile marker 69.

The man, who appeared to be in his 30s, reportedly complained of burns and numbness to his lower extremities, along with possible back pain.

UHP Sgt. Ryan Bauer said the incident was not classified as a crash.

“The person’s pants caught on fire from the exhaust,” he told Cedar City News.

After receiving medical care at the scene, the man was taken to Cedar City Hospital via ambulance, after which he was reportedly transported by air to Dixie Regional Medical Center for further treatment. The exact nature and extent of his injuries had not been determined at the time of this report.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
