Benefit dinner, concert in Cedar City raises $50,000

CEDAR CITY – On Saturday night almost 400 people from all over Southern Utah came together for a benefit dinner and concert for Karlee Hunter, a Cedar City resident who was recently diagnosed with Burkitt’s Lymphoma. In all, they raised over $50,000. At the end of the night one of the volunteers explained that absolutely everything was donated and every penny raised was able to go directly to Karlee’s medical bills. Everyone involved was overwhelmed by the love shown by the community.

Country music artist Chris Petersen and his band rocked the house with many original songs from his album, “Make a Memory Tonight” and other crowd favorites from Johnny Cash, Chris Ledoux, George Strait, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Petersen donated $5 from every album sold at the event to Karlee and commented that he was honored to be a part of an event where so many people opened up their hearts and their wallets and gave so much.
