Free training for nonprofits: ‘Strategic Planning with Budgeting Kicker’

ST. GEORGE – The Southern Utah Committee of Utah Nonprofits Association’s next educational workshop will be held Monday at Dixie Applied Technology College, 1506 S Silicon Way, St George, from 4-6:30 p.m, with a presentation by Executive Director Fraser Nelson of the Community Foundation of Utah presenting on strategic planning with a budgeting “kicker.”

UNA partners and training sponsors, the Community Foundation of Utah, Ally Bank and CIT Bank have worked together to provide this educational opportunity to the Southern Utah Community. The workshop will provide a hands-on in depth look into Strategic Planning for nonprofit organizations.

Capacity Building Training sessions such as this have played a pivotal role in assisting organizations to create long-term sustainability. The Ally Bank and CIT Bank Capacity Building Trainings are developed around topics pertaining to running and growing a successful nonprofit organization. The trainings are taught by experts including CIT/Ally Board members and staff who are a part of the Community Foundation of Utah’s volunteer, entrepreneur and business leader network. This is an exclusive opportunity for local nonprofit organizations to learn from specialists from across the state and to interact with CRA Banks.

Strategic Planning is critical in optimizing organizational performance and outcomes. In this course, taught by Community Foundation of Utah Executive Director, Fraser Nelson, attendees will learn/review the basics of constructing a functional Strategic Plan. Topics to be covered will include:

  • Mission Statement
  • Elevator Pitch
  • Goals
  • Metrics and Key Performance Indicators
  • Target Market
  • Industry and Competitive Advantage Analysis
  • Marketing Plan
  • Operations Plan
  • Financial Projections
  • Budgets
