Grace Episcopal Church announces Holy Week services

ST. GEORGE — Reverend Thomas W. Fiske, Vicar of Grace Episcopal Church located at 1072 E. 900 South, St. George, has announced the times for the Holy Week Services.

Dates and times are as follows:

Thursday, 7:30 p.m. | Maundy Thursday.

  • Maundy Thursday is the Christian holy day falling on the Thursday before Easter. It commemorates the Maundy (washing of the feet) and Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles as described in the Canonical gospels This meal is the last time Jesus spends with his disciples and he tells them what is to happen.

Friday, 7:30 p.m. | Good Friday Service.

  • Good Friday is a Christian holiday commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death at Calvary. Members of many Christian denominations, including the Anglican, Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Lutheran, Methodist, Orthodox and Reformed traditions, observe Good Friday with fasting and church services.

Saturday, 8:30 p.m. | Easter Vigil.

  • Also called the Paschal Vigil or the Great Vigil of Easter, Easter Vigil is a service held in traditional Christian churches as the first official celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus.

Sunday, 10:30 a.m. | Easter.

  • Also called Pascha (Greek, Latin) or Resurrection Sunday, Easter is a festival and holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, described in the New Testament as having occurred on the third day of his burial after his crucifixion by the Romans at Calvary c. 30 AD.

Regular service times with Holy Eucharist are Sundays at 10:30 a.m. with fellowship following, Wednesday at noon in the Chapel and Saturdays at 5:30 p.m. with fellowship following.

Grace Episcopal Church is the host of the Switchpoint Soup Kitchen serving lunch Monday-Friday from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.
