Las Vegas sports author Kirk McKnight to appear at book store

ST. GEORGE Las Vegas sports author Kirk McKnight will be appearing at the Red Cliffs Mall Barnes & Noble Saturday, April 23 from 1-4 p.m. to discuss and sign his book, “The Voices of Baseball: The Game’s Greatest Broadcasters Reflect on America’s Pastime.”

McKnight’s book encompasses over 80 years of baseball from the firsthand accounts of 33 of Major League Baseball’s greatest and longest tenured broadcasters. From Vin Scully to Ken “Hawk” Harrelson, these broadcasters describe their ballparks/stadiums, past and present, and go into detail about what makes them unique, how the players adapt, and what are their most memorable games from inside their respective booths.

“The Voices of Baseball” relives some of baseball’s most pinnacle moments from the memories of the men who called them. Vin Scully revisits both Hank Aaron’s historic 715th home run, as well as Kirk Gibson’s walk off home run in game one of the 1988 World Series. Jon Miller recaps Cal Ripken’s historic 2,131st consecutive game, passing Lou Gehrig on the all-time list. Marty Brenneman describes the 1975-76 Cincinnati Reds’ “Big Red Machine.” Joe Castiglione looks back on the 2004 Boston Red Sox unprecedented four straight wins from an 0-3 hole to defeat the defending pennant winning New York Yankees.

With each team represented by at least one broadcaster, The Voices of Baseball has something for fans of each and every team spanning 2-3 generations. Come out and get your signed copy of this one of a kind look at America’s Pastime.
