St. George Art Museum invites you to propose on April Fools Day

ST. GEORGE – April Fools Day probably isn’t the most romantic day of the year or the most obvious choice for a marriage proposal – unless you know your intended can take a joke. However, Wednesday, April 1, might work to your advantage and give you a funny story to tell your kids and grandkids if it’s done among the 50 plus wedding dresses currently on display at the St. George Art Museum.

“Here Comes the Gown: 150 Years of Wedding Dresses” will run through May 9, but if you have a wicked sense of humor and someone you want to spend the rest of your life with, April Fools Day will provide you with a creative opportunity to propose in a way – and in a location – you won’t soon forget.

No kidding, St. George Art Museum staff will help, as needed, to set up your April Fools Day proposal or take pictures of the happy moment when you pop the question. Call or stop by to pass your wild and crazy idea by the curator or a staff member at least a week before April Fools Day.

The St. George Art Museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 47 E. 200 N. According to the museum’s mission statement, the city-owned and operated facility exists “to educate … through quality exhibitions from all periods, cultures and media … and to collect, conserve, inventory, exhibit and interpret art and artifacts from Utah and the West.”

For more information about an April Fools Day proposal, the “Here Comes the Gown: 150 Years of Wedding Dresses” and the “In/Visible: Weddings and Immigration” exhibits both currently on display, call the St. George Art Museum at 435-627-4525.
