ST. GEORGE – While signs along the stretch of Red Hills Parkway in St. George between Bluff Street and Skyline Drive warn drivers of deer, the animals are not always a common sight. However, one encounter Friday night left a hapless doe dead and a driver without a car.
Around 8:15 p.m., on Red Hills Parkway near Bluff Street, a doe jumped out in front of a passenger car to cross the road, colliding with the vehicle, St. George Police Officer Jace Hutchings said.
The man driving the car was traveling 50 mph – the speed limit – when the accident occurred, Hutchings said.
While the driver was unharmed, the impact killed the deer.
Officers on scene removed the deer from the roadway, and it is slated to be retrieved by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.
The car had to be towed from the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

What a strange coincidence? A deer on Red Hills Parkway, and someone going the speed limit. It’ll never happen again.
