The crash happened at 10:40 p.m. at 425 W. Center St. near the bridge above Ash Creek.

“The vehicle had rolled off the roadway and down into a creek bed,” a statement from Hurricane Valley Fire & Rescue said, noting that the single occupant of the vehicle was able to get out on their own. “The occupant was wearing a seatbelt, and there were only minor injuries. The occupant was treated and released on scene and was not transported to the hospital.”

The vehicle, a white sedan, could be seen inverted with wheels up.

Along with the fire crew, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.

Sgt. Lucas Alfred with the sheriff’s office said the driver said they lost control of their vehicle.

“The driver stated there was a vehicle malfunction, which was not specified at this time, and caused it to run off the road to the right then rolling over into the creek,” Alfred said in a text to St. George News.

Alfred said the driver was cited for an improper lane change.

This report is based on information provided by law enforcement and may not contain the full scope of findings.
